Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Abdul Mu'ti reported plans to build around 100 integrated national schools to President Prabowo Subianto in Jakarta on Thursday.
The meeting at Istana Merdeka discussed accelerating school revitalization and construction of the non-boarding flagship schools. Abdul Mu'ti said the target of 100 schools is ready with 36 proposals selected, including five at ministry halls, one in the new capital Nusantara, and nine new builds.
School revitalization in 2025 reached 100 percent by repairing 16,167 education units. For 2026 the government has allocated Rp14 trillion to revitalize a total of 71,744 units across Indonesia.
The minister added the program is also projected to absorb around 1.1 million local workers for three to eight months. Public response in frontier, outermost, and least developed areas has been positive.
