Hamilton avoids Canadian GP grid penalty for impeding Gasly

Lewis Hamilton has been cleared by FIA stewards of impeding Pierre Gasly during qualifying for the Canadian Grand Prix, allowing the Ferrari driver to keep his fifth-place grid position.

Hamilton visited the stewards one hour after qualifying at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. The incident occurred in Q1 when Gasly, on a flying lap, encountered Hamilton on an outlap near Turn 8. Hamilton said neither he nor his team believed Gasly was on a push lap, and the stewards accepted that the moment did not affect Gasly's result as the Alpine driver advanced to Q2.
