A male home care employee in Sundsvall municipality has been reported to police for suspected sexual abuse against two elderly people. The man was detained over the weekend on suspicion of rape in July and another case from December 2025.
The man, who worked as a substitute, was suspended with pay on July 20 after the abuses came to light. Two days later he was given notice of termination by the municipality. At least one of the incidents is said to have been filmed by a surveillance camera installed by relatives.
According to a Lex Sarah report to IVO, the man penetrated a woman with his fingers on several occasions. The woman has stated that it hurt and that she felt raped. Operations manager Anita Bdioui confirmed that the information came from the care recipient herself.
The man denied the crimes during the detention hearing at Ångermanlands District Court. He is suspected on probable cause of rape in mid-July this year and of a case of rape or sexual molestation in December 2025. The man was convicted in winter 2025 of four money laundering offenses with a conditional sentence and 50 day fines.
