House of Peoples' Representatives Approves Customs Amendment Proclamation

The House of Peoples' Representatives approved a draft proclamation to amend the customs proclamation during its 24th regular meeting.

The meeting held in Addis Ababa heard that the draft proclamation will strengthen efforts to prevent contraband trade. The committee stated that the proclamation aligns with international agreements Ethiopia has signed and will ensure fairness in customs operations. The draft also supports the growth of the manufacturing industry and encourages investment. After extensive discussion the House approved the proclamation by majority vote as Proclamation Number 1425/2018.
