007 First Light delayed to May 2026: Development update and game details

Building on the initial announcement late last week, IO Interactive has delayed its James Bond origin game, 007 First Light, by two months to May 27, 2026, originally March 27. The fully playable title will use the extra time for polishing stability and refinements across PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2.

IO Interactive shared the delay news in late December 2025, underscoring its commitment as an independent studio to deliver a high-quality day-one experience for what it describes as its most ambitious project to date. Pre-orders remain open on all platforms.

The game is progressing positively and fully playable from start to finish, allowing the team to focus the additional two months on overall stability and key refinements ahead of launch.

007 First Light is a standalone James Bond adventure featuring a 26-year-old Bond before earning his '00' status. Gameplay blends stealth sections, close-quarters combat, intense gunfights, and high-speed driving missions across global locations, with players utilizing gadgets and vehicles to tackle objectives. The narrative introduces familiar MI6 figures like Q, Miss Moneypenny, and M, alongside new characters. Villain Bawma is played by Lenny Kravitz, revealed at The Game Awards 2025.

Earlier gameplay footage from Sony's State of Play in September 2025 highlighted the title's stealth, combat, and mission design emphases. Further details are slated for early 2026.
