IO Interactive updates dialogue in 007 First Light for British English

IO Interactive has changed dialogue in its James Bond game 007 First Light from American to British English. The update followed feedback on a gameplay trailer. The studio made the adjustment to improve immersion.

Developer IO Interactive released a 20-minute gameplay trailer for 007 First Light in September. In the footage, the character Bond used the phrase 'parking lot' while working undercover as a chauffeur. Indie developer Joe Wintergreen highlighted the Americanism on Bluesky, noting that James Bond should use British English terms.

IO Interactive says it is really happy that recent previews of 007: First Light are making clear the James Bond game is not like its Hitman series. The studio wants players to understand the differences ahead of the May 27 release.

Rasmus Poulsen, art director for IO Interactive's 007: First Light, has clarified that the limited edition DualSense PS5 controller's straight-line design is intentional. The design draws from the game's UI and 'light' themes rather than a traditional gun barrel rifling. Poulsen shared these insights in recent interviews alongside hands-on previews of the game.

Lennie James, who plays Bond's mentor in the upcoming game 007 First Light, has endorsed co-star Patrick Gibson for the lead role in Amazon's next live-action James Bond film. James called Gibson 'fantastic' in the game and said producers would be 'mad' not to consider him. The comments came at last week's BAFTA Games Awards.

Actor Andy Serkis has described a shift in Hollywood attitudes toward video game roles. In a new interview, he noted that performers once avoided games but now actively seek them out. Serkis drew from his own experience in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.
