Joseph Morgan and Katie Cassidy join Herbert West Reanimator film

Joseph Morgan and Katie Cassidy are starring in a contemporary reimagining of the H.P. Lovecraft story Herbert West: Reanimator. The film has entered production in Alton, Illinois.

Joseph Morgan, known for roles in The Vampire Diaries and The Originals, plays brilliant surgeon Herbert West. He is obsessed with creating a serum to reanimate the dead. Katie Cassidy, from Arrow, portrays a pathologist with a troubled past who joins his efforts.

Both actors serve as executive producers alongside Jeff Lewis of Woodlake Entertainment. The project is financed by the company. Jade Sandberg Wallace wrote the original screenplay, and Michael Grossman directs.

Cassidy said she is excited to return to the horror genre. Morgan described the role as one of the most rewarding experiences of his career.

The 1922 short story was previously adapted into a 1985 cult film starring Jeffrey Combs.
