The Catarroja judge has rejected the confrontation between Emilio Argüeso and Amparo Folgado. She states there is abundant evidence disproving Vicente Mompó’s declaration about the CECOPI meeting during the DANA.
Judge Nuria Ruiz Tobarra issued a ruling on July 6, 2026, denying the request for a confrontation filed by the defense of Emilio Argüeso. The former regional secretary of Emergencies is under investigation along with Salomé Pradas for the management of the DANA on October 29, 2024.
The magistrate notes that there is “abundant evidence that disproves” the version of Vicente Mompó, president of the Diputación de Valencia. Mompó testified on June 30 that only the danger of the Forata dam was discussed at the CECOPI.
The mayor of Torrent, Amparo Folgado, testified as a witness that she alerted Argüeso about the overflow of the l’Horteta ravine starting at 18:00 on the day of the flood. The judge indicates that this statement coincides with other witnesses and does not require a confrontation.
