Karnataka Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot has sought authenticated English translations of documents submitted by the Lokayukta Police for prosecuting former Minister B.Z. Zameer Ahmed Khan in a disproportionate assets case.
Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot received a proposal from the Lokayukta Police in Kannada. The documents run into thousands of pages and seek sanction to prosecute Mr. Khan for allegedly amassing assets worth about ₹25 crore.
The proposal followed an investigation that examined the former minister's financial records from 2005 to 2025. Investigators reviewed declared income, assets, bank transactions, properties and loans involving more than 30 individuals.
The case originated from material recovered during the Directorate of Enforcement probe into the 2018 IMA scam. The Enforcement Directorate had recommended that the Anti-Corruption Bureau register a disproportionate assets case, which was later transferred to the Lokayukta Police after the bureau was abolished.
