Kimi Antonelli vows Goodwood return after debut run

Kimi Antonelli completed his first run at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in the Mercedes-AMG PureSpeed. The Formula 1 championship leader said he ignored instructions to drive slowly and plans to return next year.

Antonelli appeared on the Pirelli fan zone stage after his hillclimb run. He joked about pushing the car despite advice to take it easy during the maiden outing.

"They told me to go slow, but of course I didn’t listen," he said. "I just tried to push, but it was good."

The Italian driver also noted his busy schedule that included the British Grand Prix, a Wimbledon visit and tyre testing at Silverstone. He expressed enthusiasm for the event's atmosphere and race cars.

The Mercedes-AMG PureSpeed is a two-seater model with a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine producing 800Nm of torque. It reaches 100km/h in 3.6 seconds and has a top speed of 315km/h, with only 250 units produced.
