Laurie Holden exited Chicago Med before production started

Laurie Holden left the Chicago Med project in 2015 before filming began. She had appeared in the backdoor pilot episode of Chicago Fire.

The actress played trauma surgeon Dr. Hannah Tramble in Chicago Fire Season 3 Episode 19. That episode served as the backdoor pilot for the spin-off series.

Holden was set to join Chicago Med in a recurring role. She later stepped away for family reasons.

In a statement she said she was grateful to Dick Wolf and the team. She added that the show would be a huge success.

Chicago Med did not recast the role and offered no explanation for the character's absence on screen.
