Lily Allen defends West End Girl show after fan criticism

Lily Allen hit back at online shade about her London gig, insisting she's proud of the production. The 41-year-old addressed gripes over timing, length and audience interaction. Her album West End Girl dropped last year.

The pop star took to X after a fan griped about the O2 show: no support act, a 9:10pm start, wrap by 10pm, zero stage chat and £86 tickets for the nosebleeds. Lily clapped back that an orchestra opened, the run time was always billed as the full album and the late curtain was thanks to laddered tights.

She called the no-talking choice an artistic move to keep the fourth wall intact, adding everyone on the tour is “really working very hard” and she’s “extremely proud.” Another fan jumped in to note the orchestra was the advertised support.

The original critic walked back a bit, saying the format was clear but the lack of a simple thank-you still felt odd. The whole exchange played out on 29 June.
