Lula undergoes head and wrist procedures in São Paulo on Friday

President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva will undergo simple medical procedures today, Friday (24), at Hospital Sírio-Libanês in São Paulo: removal of skin buildup on the head and wrist infiltration for tendinitis.

The Secretaria de Comunicação da Presidência (Secom) confirmed on Thursday (23) that Lula, 80, will travel to São Paulo tonight for the procedures. They include cauterization to remove excess skin — keratosis — from the same head area operated on in February, mainly due to sun exposure, and infiltration in the right thumb for tendinitis.

The procedures are simple and will not require rest or restrictions on the president's schedule. Lula will stay in the São Paulo capital until Saturday or Sunday, with no public commitments planned for Friday or Saturday. Official events in Presidente Prudente and Andradina, in the state's interior, were rescheduled from Friday to Monday (27).

In February, Lula had undergone the same skin removal on the scalp, later appearing with a healing scab. He is expected to return to Brasília on Sunday for the PT National Congress.
