Police in Saiki, Oita Prefecture, arrested a 44-year-old man on Monday after he stabbed four people at a Tsutaya bookstore parking lot around 10 a.m. All victims were hospitalized but their wounds are not life-threatening.
According to police, the suspect, Hiroshi Noshita, stabbed a man in his 60s in the abdomen with a kitchen knife. He also stabbed a man in his 80s, another man in his 60s and a teenage girl. The man in his 80s was attacked while sitting in his car.
Three victims ran into the Tsutaya store for help. A store employee called police. Officers later received a report of a man with a knife at a nearby medical facility and arrested Noshita there.
All four victims were taken to hospital. Police said their wounds are not life-threatening. The incident occurred on July 13.
