A 29-year-old man in New Hampshire faces multiple felony charges after allegedly attacking his sister and her friend with a hatchet and steak knife. The incident occurred at a home in Londonderry on March 15. Both victims suffered serious injuries and were hospitalized.
Chandler Walden was arrested on March 15 at around 8:50 p.m. following a reported stabbing at a residence in the 100 block of Chase Road in Londonderry, New Hampshire. Police responded to find two women outside the home with multiple stab wounds; bystanders were providing aid. The victims, identified as Walden's sister and her friend, were transported to hospitals in serious condition with injuries to the head and torso, according to authorities and court documents reported by local media such as WMUR and the New Hampshire Union Leader. Walden had retreated inside the home but was taken into custody without incident. Officers noted blood on his neck and hands, and during a pat-down, he stated he had left his weapons in his room. He faces eight felony charges, including two counts of attempted murder, three counts of first-degree assault with a deadly weapon, and three counts of second-degree assault, one domestic violence-related involving serious bodily injury. Prosecutors allege Walden purposely attempted to cause the victims' deaths by striking them with the hatchet and steak knife, both deemed deadly weapons in the manner used. One victim reported that Walden and his sister had argued earlier that day before the women went out. Upon returning, they found Walden spraying Febreze around the house; he then began yelling before attacking his sister. The friend intervened and was also assaulted, later telling police she heard Walden say, 'After all the years of abuse, it ends tonight. I'm going to end this tonight.' She could not confirm the hatchet due to her glasses being knocked off. Detectives recovered the weapons from a trash can in Walden's bedroom after executing a search warrant. Walden is held without bond at the Rockingham County House of Corrections, with a probable cause hearing scheduled for March 25.
