McLaren takes Hungarian Grand Prix win from pole

McLaren secured victory in the Hungarian Grand Prix after Lando Norris started from pole position. The team ended a period of Mercedes dominance in recent races. Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff said the result was not unexpected on this track.

McLaren's Lando Norris took pole position by just 0.012 seconds from Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton before winning the race outright. Mercedes drivers finished fourth and seventh in qualifying, with Kimi Antonelli recovering to third place on race day.

Wolff acknowledged McLaren's progress after the event. "When you ask the AI who are the favourite in Budapest, the AI is going to say McLaren," he said. He noted that McLaren had been strong at the venue in previous years.

Wolff added that McLaren had made a step forward and was now in the fight for results. He stressed the need for Mercedes to remain strategic with upgrades under the cost cap rather than introducing parts at every race.
