Michael Waldron develops Nova feature film at Marvel Studios

Michael Waldron is developing a Nova feature film for Marvel Studios. The project remains in early stages with Waldron set to write the script and potentially direct.

Sources told Deadline that Waldron, creator of Chad Powers, has been brought on to develop the film after his WGA card listing the project leaked last week. Insiders note the project is still early but Waldron has an eye toward directing if it advances.

Marvel Studios previously developed Nova as a television series scripted by Sabir Pirzada before shelving the idea in 2025. Waldron previously wrote Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and served as showrunner on Loki.

The Nova character first appeared in a 1976 issue of Super Adventures as a member of the intergalactic Nova Corps with abilities including enhanced strength and flight. Marvel Studios and Waldron's representatives could not be reached for comment.
