Military production minister discusses defence cooperation with Junghans and Thales Egypt

Salah Gamblat, Egypt's Minister of State for Military Production, held talks with Luc Mestrallet, Chairperson of Junghans, and Sherif Barakat, CEO of Thales Egypt, to explore joint cooperation in the defence industries sector. The meeting focused on opportunities for joint manufacturing by leveraging the technological and manufacturing capabilities of military production companies, particularly the Abu Zaabal Company for Specialised Industries.

Salah Gamblat, Egypt's Minister of State for Military Production, met with Luc Mestrallet, Chairperson of Junghans, and Sherif Barakat, CEO of Thales Egypt, to discuss prospects for joint cooperation in the defence industries sector.

The talks explored opportunities for joint manufacturing with Junghans, leveraging the technological, manufacturing, and technical capabilities of military production companies and their affiliated units, particularly the Abu Zaabal Company for Specialised Industries. This facility is one of the most advanced military industrial complexes, specializing in detonators for various ammunition types and components for ammunition of different calibres.

Gamblat stated that the discussions align with the ministry's strategy to localize advanced manufacturing technologies through partnerships with international firms, while boosting domestic production to reduce import reliance. He emphasized that the ministry's primary mandate is to meet the armed forces' needs for ammunition, weapons, and military equipment.

Mestrallet expressed Junghans' eagerness to strengthen its partnership with the Ministry of Military Production, noting growing French interest in expanding cooperation with the sector in the current period. The meeting was attended by Tarek Bakhit, Vice Chairperson and Managing Director of the National Authority for Military Production; Mohamed Sherine Shehata, Head of the Central Administration for the Minister’s Office Affairs; and several ministry and authority officials.
