MK Party MP Testifies About Alleged Bribe Offer at Madlanga Commission

Vusi Shongwe told the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry on Tuesday that he received an offer of R10 million in cash during a meeting involving a video call with Crime Intelligence officer Feroz Khan.

Shongwe, a member of Parliament for the MK Party, said the meeting occurred in Durban after he raised concerns about Khan in Parliament. He testified that tobacco businessman Yusuf Kajee arranged a video call with Khan, who asked what Shongwe had done to him and offered to meet in Sandton.

Kajee then told Shongwe that the group could provide a security tender worth R2 million a month or R10 million in cash, according to the testimony. Shongwe said he declined the offers and later informed MK Party leader Jacob Zuma, who expressed surprise that the meeting had not been presented as an opportunity to praise the party's work.

Khan was scheduled to appear before the commission on Wednesday but remains in hospital after being shot on Sunday evening. Shongwe also described seeing security personnel near his vehicle during the meeting and leaving his phone behind due to hacking concerns.

Brigadier Abraham Nkhwashu, Sedibeng District Commissioner, testified at the Madlanga Commission on April 22, 2026, denying allegations of aiding his brother-in-law Katiso “KT” Molefe in the investigation into engineer Armand Swart’s murder. Nkhwashu admitted visiting Molefe in prison but described it as a humanitarian act to deliver clothing. He apologised to Swart’s family and called for justice if Molefe is guilty.
