Omar Abdullah backs dialogue resumption with Pakistan

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on July 2 supported calls to restart talks between India and Pakistan. He referenced a joint letter from over 100 citizens urging improved ties.

Omar Abdullah stated that his party seeks better relations with the neighbouring country. He noted a request sent to the Prime Minister through an open letter signed by more than 100 people from India and Pakistan.

Abdullah recalled remarks by RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat favouring talks and friendly ties. He also cited former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who said neighbours cannot be changed.

Tensions have continued for decades and increased after the Pahalgam terror attack last year. Abdullah emphasised that his party's stance on dialogue has remained consistent over time.
