One mpox case confirmed in embu county

Health officials are on high alert after one case of mpox was confirmed in Embu County.

Governor Cecily Mbarire said the case was recently identified in a 29-year-old woman from the Kagaari area. The patient has been placed under travel restrictions to prevent further spread of the disease.

Speaking at Nembure Grounds in Manyatta Sub-County, Ms Mbarire said public health officers are on the ground to ensure the disease does not spread. She urged residents to visit health centres immediately upon showing symptoms.

“We urge residents to take this disease seriously and seek treatment immediately when they start showing symptoms,” Ms Mbarire said.
