Orji Uzor Kalu urges peaceful resolution in Abia North communities

The senator representing Abia North Senatorial District, Orji Uzor Kalu, has urged communities across the zone to embrace love, peace, and unity, warning that internal disputes must be resolved peacefully without loss of lives or destruction of property.

Over the weekend, Orji Uzor Kalu, the former Abia State governor and current senator for Abia North Senatorial District, addressed leaders of an Abia North think-tank during their courtesy visit to him in Igbere. The delegation, led by elder statesman Nnanna Ukaegbu, included Prof. Eni Kalu, ESV Olekanma, and Bishop Silas Eke, among others. Kalu expressed concern over ongoing internal disagreements in some communities, emphasizing that such issues should be settled amicably within the communities themselves.

He warned that violence and destruction only hinder community progress and collective advancement. Peace and security, he noted, are essential for attracting investments, as investors prefer environments of harmony and stability. "When there is security, peace, and harmony, it gives investors confidence to invest and develop our place. We must live peacefully as brothers," Kalu stated.

The senator highlighted love as the strongest bond among communities, urging residents to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ through forgiveness, tolerance, and mutual respect. He cautioned that hatred and division could stall development. Kalu also advised politicians in Abia State to avoid escalating tensions, calling for restraint and steering clear of inflammatory statements that might threaten peace ahead of future political activities.

Describing himself as a committed democrat, Kalu said he is fully aware of the state's political developments. He acknowledged reports of clerics and community leaders encouraging him to run unopposed in the 2027 elections, expressing gratitude for their confidence in him.

This call comes amid broader concerns about internal conflicts in the region, underscoring the need for unity to foster economic growth.
