Östersund targets top-10 spot after 11th-place finish

Östersund ended the 2025/26 HockeyAllsvenskan regular season in 11th place and now aims for a top-10 finish next year. The club has extended contracts for Lukas Sagranden and Anton Klint, signed Erik Flood as its first new acquisition for 2026/27, and seen departures of Kalle Johansson and Alexander Anderberg. Sports director Rasmus Aro shared plans to rebuild the defense.

Östersund concluded the 2025/26 regular season in 11th position, just missing the playoffs. For the upcoming 2026/27 campaign, the team has set a realistic goal of securing a top-10 spot in the standings. Aro emphasized building on positive elements from the past season to the club's website. He stated: 'We were close to a playoff spot and a realistic goal for the coming season is that we grab a top-10 place.' The sports director described the current roster construction as exciting, noting progress beyond public announcements. Aro aims to foster a group where individuals strive to improve. A key focus is overhauling the defense. 'When we analyze the past season, we believe we want to make several changes to our backline and try to add more ingredients to our players,' Aro said. He highlighted the need for better puck play from defensemen, alongside defensive skills, two-way capabilities, and offensive traits for a balanced mix. Contract extensions for Sagranden and Klint provide continuity, while Flood bolsters the incoming talent. Johansson and Anderberg have left the club. Aro indicated more news weekly through spring and early summer.
