On december 19, 2025, the independent national electoral commission (inec) convened a meeting with the two contending factions of the peoples democratic party (pdp) ahead of federal capital territory (fct) polls. This comes amid a prolonged internal crisis rocking the opposition party.

The national working committee (nwc) of the pdp, led by tanimu turaki, san, declared that they will continue undertaking their duties pending a court ruling on the factional dispute.

Former senate president bukola saraki addressed the crisis, stating that it would be resolved within the next few months. He emphasized, "we’re going nowhere," signaling commitment to staying within the party despite the divisions.

These developments highlight ongoing efforts to stabilize the pdp as it prepares for upcoming elections in the fct.

If you go by the book and by courts Turaki is the imposter, that convention was held against court order, however the CTC may also have legal challenge.
