Poggi demands resignations from entire cabinet in San Luis over funding crisis

San Luis Governor Claudio Poggi requested the resignation of his entire cabinet and political officials on Monday due to a drop in national transfers. He announced a 30% cut in public positions to deepen austerity measures. The action addresses four consecutive months of declining coparticipation funds.

Claudio Poggi, governor of San Luis, announced on his social media that he will request the resignation of all political officials in the provincial government. The move comes amid a 7.14% real-term drop in national transfers during the first four months of 2026, marking the fourth consecutive month of decline.

"Today I will ask for the resignation of all political officials of the Provincial Government", Poggi stated. He said he will personally evaluate each one's performance based on two criteria: the level of austerity applied in their areas and full commitment to the management change started on December 10, 2023. "This is a moment to see who is really committed and who is not", the governor posted.

Poggi will send a new Ministry Law to the Legislature, planning a 30% cut in political positions, from directors to ministers, who have already offered their resignations. Official data show national automatic transfers below typical levels of the past decade.

Alongside this, the governor announced measures to promote private investment and job creation. "The current economic reality demands that we deepen austerity", he said, stressing the need to reactivate economic activity and strengthen the province's productive profile. The announcement occurs amid social tensions over salary demands.
