Colombia's Attorney General's Office has announced arrest warrants against alias 'Iván Mordisco' and other FARC dissident leaders for genocide against the Nasa indigenous people in Cauca. They are attributed with 32 criminal acts affecting 43 victims since 2022. The probe uncovers a systematic pattern aimed at seizing indigenous lands.

Colombia's Attorney General's Office, following an in-depth territorial investigation, has requested and obtained arrest warrants against alias 'Iván Mordisco' and other FARC dissident leaders. These figures face charges of genocide against the Nasa indigenous people in Cauca department, particularly in the municipalities of Caldono, Santander de Quilichao, Caloto, Corinto, Toribío, Miranda, Páez, and Jambaló.

According to Attorney General Luz Adriana Camargo, the accused promoted a systematic extermination of the indigenous population to seize their lands and prevent resistance to their criminal activities in northern and eastern Cauca. The probe, supported by an interdisciplinary team including criminal and victim analysts, anthropologists, and other experts, involved exchanges with the community to understand their organization, customs, and worldview.

Probative elements identify at least 32 criminal acts, such as homicides, attempted homicides, and forced displacements, affecting 43 victims since 2022. Among those impacted are 16 community members, 14 indigenous leaders and authorities, eight peace accord signatories, and five ancestral knowers. These incidents were carried out by the Dagoberto Ramos Front of the self-proclaimed Central High Command of the FARC dissidents.

The effort was coordinated with the Deputy Attorney General's Office, the Cauca Sectional Directorate, and specialized units against human rights violations and criminal organizations, culminating in a presentation to a criminal judge for guarantee control.
