Proyecta Chile 2050 launches execution phase with broad cross-sector support

The Proyecta Chile 2050 initiative, involving over 2,000 experts for two years, started its execution phase on Friday, focusing on turning proposals into public policies and concrete projects by 2050. It has backing from political, academic, and business institutions. Leaders emphasized the importance of long-term vision for national development.

Fundación Encuentros del Futuro, working with the Senate, Chamber of Deputies, Cruch, Academia Chilena de Ciencias, Sofofa, CPC, and Congreso Futuro, drove Proyecta Chile 2050. Over two years, more than 2,000 experts addressed 20 thematic tables on health, energy, inteligencia artificial, economy, and democracy.

Proposals have been presented to the Legislative Power and now move to institutional implementation. Guido Girardi, executive vice president of Fundación Encuentros del Futuro, highlighted the consensus: “This document summarizes the work of more than 2,000 people [...] who set out something that seemed impossible: to think of a country project for Chile that is consensual”.

Senate President Paulina Núñez urged execution: “The commitment now falls to us to carry it out”. Chamber President Jorge Alessandri praised the 2050 focus: “More than 2,000 professionals invite us to look up [...] but to 2050”.

Science Undersecretary Rafael Araos pushed for a knowledge economy. Metropolitan Governor Claudio Orrego stressed policies beyond election cycles. Rectors Osvaldo Corrales and Lucas Palacios, along with Sofofa President Rosario Navarro, emphasized research, future projection, and public-private collaboration.
