Sandara Park shares struggles from childhood in the Philippines

Sandara Park opened up about her difficult adjustment after immigrating to the Philippines as a child, including nearly a decade of silence due to language barriers.

During a guest appearance on the YouTube channel Yoon DoHyun’s ETC, the 2NE1 member detailed her move to the Philippines in fourth grade around age ten. She remained there into her early twenties and described the period as extremely tough, noting that her natural shyness led her to stop speaking almost entirely after classmates laughed at her mispronunciations.

She recalled that a teacher once used sign language with her, believing she was mute. Sandara Park explained that she spent after-school hours at home listening to music and watching Korean videos borrowed from stores to cope.

The idol also traced her early dreams of becoming a singer to childhood inspirations like Seo Taiji and Boys, later expanding to Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera. According to a source close to the agency, these candid reflections are resonating deeply with fans who admire her for her resilience.
