Second trailer released for Sekiro anime adaptation

A second trailer for the Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice anime series, titled Sekiro: No Defeat, has been unveiled. The series will air exclusively on Crunchyroll later this year, though no specific release date has been announced. Directed by Kenichi Kutsuna, the trailer showcases familiar bosses and hand-drawn 2D animation.

The anime adaptation of FromSoftware's Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, known as Sekiro: No Defeat, was first revealed last summer. Its second trailer, released recently, highlights intense boss fights featuring characters such as Gyoubu Oniwa and Genichiro Ashina, while maintaining a faithful tone to the original game. The animation employs a distinctive 2D style reminiscent of 1990s productions, confirmed to be entirely hand-drawn after earlier speculation about AI involvement was dismissed by the production team. No release date has been set, but the series is slated for later this year exclusively on Crunchyroll. Kenichi Kutsuna, who previously directed Puella Magi Madoka Magica, leads the project. Character designs come from Takahiro Kishida of Haikyu!! The Dumpster Battle, with writing by Takuya Satou from Otherside Picnic and original music by Shuta Hasunuma of A New Dawn. Kutsuna commented: > In adapting the overwhelmingly beautiful Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice into an anime, I have poured every ounce of my 'beauty' into creating this work. Whether you're a longtime fan of the game or experiencing the world of Sekiro for the first time through this anime, we're confident this work will leave you with something to take home. Please look forward to it. The trailer suggests a clearer plot while preserving the game's lyrical atmosphere.
