A side project by Slipknot members Corey Taylor, Jim Root, Sid Wilson, and Shawn 'Clown' Crahan, titled Look Outside Your Window, is set for release on April 18, 2026, as part of Record Store Day. Recorded during sessions for the band's 2008 album All Hope Is Gone, the experimental record will appear under its own name, not Slipknot's, in a limited vinyl edition. Fans have anticipated this melodic, Radiohead-inspired work for over 15 years.
The announcement of Look Outside Your Window's release emerged through the Record Store Day 2026 lineup, marking the end of years of rumors and delays for this enigmatic project. Originating in 2008, the album arose from informal sessions amid the recording of Slipknot's All Hope Is Gone. Corey Taylor, Jim Root, Sid Wilson, and Shawn 'Clown' Crahan experimented freely, diverging from the band's intense style to explore melodic and artistic sounds without external pressures.
Clown described the process in a Kerrang! interview: "The truth is: while we were making that album, Jim and I—who were the only two out of all nine original members who came to the studio—were there every day, from the beginning to the end. And then Corey and Sid became a part of it, and all four of us became a part of it—it wasn’t just any one person’s. It became ours." He noted that when shared with others, the response was often, “It’s not Slipknot.”
Taylor echoed this in a SiriusXM's Trunk Nation discussion, likening the vibe to Radiohead: “It’s much more of a rock vibe. Honestly, it’s much more of a Radiohead vibe, to be honest.” He attempted to blend elements into All Hope Is Gone but faced band turmoil that prevented it. Initially skeptical in 2023, Taylor told NME, “I hope people dig it but I honestly hope it never gets released because there are so many expectations about it now.” Yet, after revisiting the material, he praised it: “I just went back and listened to all that stuff and it’s so dope and so different... The music is so beautiful, it probably has some of my favorite melodies that I’ve done.”
The vinyl edition, limited to 2,300 copies, features splatter design, a die-cut jacket with purple foil, and embossed text. The full track listing includes: 1. 11th March, 2. Moth, 3. Dirge, 4. Christina, 5. Is Real, 6. Away, 7. In Reverse, 8. Toad, 9. Juliette, 10. U Can't Stop This. This release fulfills a long-standing fan demand, positioning the album as a unique chapter in the musicians' careers separate from Slipknot's legacy.
