Ubisoft has announced that Solid Snake from the Metal Gear Solid series will become a playable operator in Rainbow Six Siege with the launch of Operation Silent Hunt on March 3, 2026. The crossover features the character's stealth abilities and a team-up with Sam Fisher from Splinter Cell. David Hayter reprises his role as Snake's voice actor.

The addition of Solid Snake was revealed at the Six Invitational 2026 in Paris, as part of Ubisoft's Year 11 roadmap for Rainbow Six Siege. Operation Silent Hunt, the first season of Year 11, introduces Snake as a permanent operator focused on stealth gameplay. According to the official blog post, "Solid Snake excels at tracking down Defender positions and scavenging supplies on the battlefield to adapt to any situation" using his Soliton Radar MKIII gadget and On-Site Procurement ability.

Snake's loadout includes the PMR90A2 assault rifle as his primary weapon and the suppressed TACIT .45 handgun as secondary. He can equip gadgets such as frag grenades, stun grenades, impact EMP grenades, smoke grenades, or breach charges. The reveal trailer shows Snake interacting with Sam Fisher, who joined Siege in 2020 as the operator "Zero" during Operation Shadow Legacy. A limited-time mode featuring their team-up is planned, described as a 4v4 infiltration event called "Redacted," alongside themed cosmetics like the Psycho Mantis outfit for the operator Smoke.

David Hayter provides new voice lines for Snake, while Michael Ironside does not reprise his role as Fisher. The season's battle pass instantly unlocks Snake and includes additional Metal Gear Solid-inspired items. This collaboration with Konami continues Siege's trend of crossovers, following additions from franchises like Assassin's Creed and Resident Evil. The update also brings a 1v1 Arcade mode, modernized maps including Oregon, Coastline, and Villa, and balancing changes, though the core focus remains on expanding the operator roster now exceeding 70 characters.

The timing aligns with renewed interest in Metal Gear Solid, following last year's Snake Eater remake and the upcoming Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 2 in August 2026. Splinter Cell, however, has seen no major releases since Blacklist in 2013.
