State attorneys general have asked a federal judge to order Live Nation to sell off Ticketmaster following a recent jury verdict. The proposal came one month after the live music company was found to have operated as an illegal monopoly.
On May 21, a coalition of dozens of states filed a legal brief seeking structural remedies against Live Nation. They want the company to divest Ticketmaster so it can compete independently for primary ticketing contracts with major concert venues. The states also requested the sale of a sufficient number of large amphitheaters and limits on future acquisitions of such venues.
