Cafam Melgar vacation center was affected by the overflow of La Melgara stream due to heavy rains on the morning of March 30. The entity safely evacuated families and is assessing damage to Zone F and the Water Park. Other complex services are operating normally.
During Holy Week season, Cafam reported that heavy rains in Melgar municipality caused the overflow of La Melgara stream in the early morning of March 30. This led to significant damage in Zone F, the Water Park, and other areas of the Cafam Melgar Vacation Center.
"From Cafam we inform our affiliates, visitors and the community in general that [...] the overflow of La Melgara stream occurred, causing significant impacts in Zone F, Water Park and other areas of our Vacation Center," the entity stated in a press release.
Following attention protocols, families staying in the affected area were evacuated to safe places and relocated within the complex, ensuring their well-being. Cafam said its team is assessing the damage to start repairs and restore operations as soon as possible.
The compensation fund is coordinating with local authorities and risk management organizations. Other services such as lodging, dining, and entertainment spaces are fully operational under strict safety measures. Cafam expressed solidarity with other hotels and local residents affected.
