Study names Porto as top post-breakup travel destination

A recent report by Nomad eSIM identifies Porto, Portugal, as the leading destination for travelers recovering from a breakup. The study evaluates cities based on safety, affordability, and wellness options. Porto tops the list with a score of 70.6 out of 100.

In late January, Nomad eSIM, an international eSIM provider, published its report on the best post-breakup destinations around the world. The analysis ranks cities that offer a mix of safety, nightlife, and self-care opportunities to help individuals move on after a romantic split.

Porto, Portugal's second-largest city located on the Douro River in the north, leads the rankings. The report highlights its exceptional safety, vibrant nightlife, and abundance of museums, spas, and nature activities. Nomad eSIM states, “Porto offers the perfect combo: cultural enrichment by day, wine tasting sessions in the evening, and exciting nights out to let loose and have fun.” It adds, “The city’s abundance of wellness amenities and spa options means you can pamper yourself all day.”

The methodology assigns weights to various factors: safety at 30%, affordability at 20%, and 12.5% each to spas, nightlife, museums, and nature access or wildlife tours. Following Porto are Osaka, Japan (69%), and Lisbon, Portugal (68.7%). Prague in the Czech Republic and Denpasar in Bali, Indonesia, tie for fourth at 66.6%. The full top 10 includes Chiba, Japan; Taipei, Taiwan; Hanoi, Vietnam; Kraków, Poland; and Marrakesh, Morocco.

This ranking provides options for different preferences, from urban exploration to coastal relaxation, emphasizing places suited for personal recovery and enjoyment.
