Tesla launches 2026 free Supercharging competition

Tesla is introducing a new contest that rewards top Supercharger users with lifetime free charging. The 2026 Free Supercharging Competition builds on the company's existing Charging Passport feature. Nine winners will be chosen across three global regions.

Tesla announced the competition in June 2026. All Supercharging sessions from January 1 to December 31, 2026, will count toward the results. Participants must enable data sharing in their vehicle settings and open the 2026 Charging Passport in the app at least once before January 1, 2027.

Winners will be selected in three categories. These include the longest continuous streak of unique Supercharger visits, the highest number of distinct sites visited, and the most total energy charged in kilowatt-hours. Three winners will come from each of the Americas, Asia-Pacific, and EMEA regions.

The top users receive free Supercharging on their winning vehicle for as long as they own or lease it. Certain vehicles and owners are ineligible, including those already on free Supercharging plans, commercial vehicles, Tesla employees and their families, and residents of excluded countries.

The effort extends Tesla's gamification approach that includes badges for milestones, iconic locations, and special events. The Charging Passport shows maps, stats, and collectible badges accessed through the Tesla app.
