He told dispatchers the child had thrown up but seemed okay and declined medical help. The next day, February 23, Mortensen's friend Cru Ethan filed a police report detailing a pattern of abuse by Paul, including visible scratches on Mortensen's neck, prior assaults, a broken car mirror, damaged phone screen, and a thrown drink. Ethan also provided photos and videos allegedly showing Paul striking her children with a bar stool. He noted three kids were present during the incident and that Paul was on probation for prior domestic violence.
