Tom Morello cancels European festival dates to care for mother

Tom Morello has cancelled upcoming European shows to return home and care for his 102-year-old mother Mary, who has been re-admitted to hospital.

The Rage Against the Machine guitarist announced the decision on Instagram on June 25. He said he is heading home after his mother was hospitalised again.

Morello will no longer perform at Tons of Rock Festival in Oslo on June 26 or BBK Music Legends Festival in Bilbao on June 27. Refunds are now available for his postponed headline shows in London and Paris, which had been rescheduled for June 29 and 30.

The guitarist had previously postponed those UK and France dates due to his mother's health. He returned to the stage last weekend for shows including Pinkpop in the Netherlands, Nijmegen and Copenhell in Denmark.

Festival organisers have arranged replacements. The Hellacopters will fill the Oslo slot while Beat will extend their Bilbao set to 120 minutes.
