Transport Minister Dudy Purwagandhi urged returnees to avoid peak Lebaran traffic on March 24, 28, and 29, 2026, by using work from anywhere (WFA) on March 25-27. One-way national traffic engineering started on March 24 from Kalikangkung Toll Gate to Cikampek Utama.
Semarang -- Transport Minister Dudy Purwagandhi announced on Tuesday (March 24, 2026) at Kalikangkung Toll Gate in Semarang, Central Java, that peak Lebaran 2026 return traffic is forecast for March 24, 28, and 29. He estimated 283,000 to 285,000 vehicles heading to Jakarta on March 24, exceeding the 270,000 vehicles at the mudik peak on March 18, as noted by National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo who reported 2.3 million vehicles leaving Jakarta during mudik. Alongside Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Pratikno, Dudy implemented national one-way traffic from KM 414 at Kalikangkung Toll Gate to KM 70 at Cikampek Utama Toll Gate at police discretion. 'We urge people returning from hometowns to schedule trips avoiding return peaks on March 24, 28, and 29, 2026. People can maximize WFA enforced by the government on March 25, 26, and 27, 2026, to avoid vehicle buildup on Trans Java Toll Road,' Dudy said. Rest area KM 52B on Jakarta-Cikampek Toll was temporarily closed, with alternatives at KM 42B and 19B; another report mentioned KM 62B also closed. Toll operators applied open-close measures for rest areas to ease congestion. Dudy advised checking routes via Travoy app or Jasa Marga call center, and complying with joint decree on goods transport restrictions. He appreciated coordination by police, local governments, toll managers, and Jasa Raharja for smooth flow and safety.
