Windmill Hill Brewery revives local beer festival in April

Windmill Hill Brewery in Warwickshire is hosting a four-day beer and music festival from April 16 to 19, paying tribute to the former Leamington Beer & Music Festival that ran from 2013 to 2018. The event aims to celebrate independent brewing in the county with local breweries, live music, and street food near the original festival site. It will launch a series of monthly events through December.

Windmill Hill Brewery and Taproom announced plans for a four-day festival from April 16 to 19, reviving the spirit of the Leamington Beer & Music Festival, which took place annually from 2013 to 2018 at The Band Factory. The new event, held just a stone's throw from that original location, seeks to restore a town-centre beer festival cherished by many residents and highlight Warwickshire's independent brewing scene.

Organizers are inviting local Warwickshire breweries to participate in a cask and keg swap, showcasing beers from across the county. Live entertainment includes performances by Crushed Velvet and Napton Collective, while street food vendors such as Yummy Sausage and Scratch Cook Social will provide meals throughout the weekend.

The festival opens on Thursday with a "Tapping the Casks" launch event, featuring a free brewery tour and tasting session. Student discounts will be available all weekend, and Sunday concludes with a playful "drink the brewery dry" finale, offering specials on remaining pours.

This April gathering marks the start of the monthly "Under-The-Arches" programme, running until December and combining live music, street food, and new beer releases.

Windmill Hill Brewery stated: "Every town should have a beer festival. With a brewery based only a stone's throw from The Band Factory, where it used to be held, it feels only right that we help bring that spirit back and celebrate independent brewing in Warwickshire."

Interested breweries can contact Windmill Hill directly for the cask or keg swap. Tickets are available for purchase online.
