Anthropic has introduced Claude Tag, an AI assistant that joins Slack workspaces as a dedicated user. The feature allows teams to tag it in channels for task handling and context-aware responses drawn from accessible data.
Anthropic announced the rollout in a press release on Tuesday. The company will rename its existing Claude app in Slack to Claude Tag on Aug. 3.
Claude Tag operates with its own identity in selected channels. It learns from conversation history, completes tasks in stages, and can remind users about ongoing work when ambient behavior is enabled.
The tool is available in research preview for Claude Team and Enterprise plan customers. Admins control access to tools and data, with usage billed to the organization based on consumption rather than user count.
Conversations follow each company's Slack retention policies and are deleted 30 days after disconnection.
