Foreign ministers from 16 Arab and Muslim countries issued a joint statement condemning the opening of a so-called Somaliland embassy in Jerusalem as illegal and unacceptable.
The ministers described the move as a flagrant violation of international law and relevant UN resolutions. They said it undermines the legal and historical status of the city.
The statement reaffirmed that East Jerusalem has been occupied Palestinian territory since 1967. Any attempt to alter its status is null and void, the ministers added.
Signatories also expressed support for Somalia's unity and sovereignty. They rejected actions that could threaten Somali national cohesion.
The countries involved were Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Jordan, Türkiye, Pakistan, Indonesia, Djibouti, Somalia, Palestine, Oman, Sudan, Yemen, Lebanon, and Mauritania.
