A three-member BJP panel led by C.T. Ravi submitted its report on cross-voting in recent council polls to state chief B.Y. Vijayendra. The document highlights precautions that should have been taken. It puts total cross-votes from the NDA at 12.
The committee gathered information from candidates, party leaders and the Chief Whip along with circumstantial evidence. Mr. Ravi told reporters that the report lists suspects but did not reveal further details.
Vote counts showed one BJP candidate received 29 valid votes and the other 27 out of 30 assigned each. The JD(S) candidate received 14 votes instead of the expected 22.
BJP leaders have offered differing estimates of cross-votes from their MLAs. Party national president Nitin Nabin summoned three senior state leaders on June 23 over the matter.
