BMW driver sentenced to prison for fatal Las Vegas hit-and-run

A 37-year-old man has been sentenced to four to 12 years in prison after pleading guilty to failing to stop at the scene of a crash that killed a pedestrian in Las Vegas last year. The incident occurred on the Las Vegas Strip in the early morning hours.

Stephon Watkins was driving a 2016 BMW X5 on West Flamingo Road when he struck 29-year-old Jeffrey Ryan Diedenhofen on May 30, 2025, around 3:30 a.m. Diedenhofen was crossing the street outside a marked crosswalk, and Watkins continued driving without stopping. Medics pronounced the victim dead at the scene.
