Brazilian woman publishes video of racist attack at Frankfurt airport

Ionara Sech recorded and shared a video of racist insults directed at her and two Brazilian friends at Frankfurt airport last Thursday.

Ionara Sech, born in Ceará and resident in Germany for nearly eight years, was at Frankfurt airport with friends Brisa Costa and Monique Mitchelly. They waited for relatives while wearing Stitch costumes to surprise family members.

A German woman began making insults after realizing the group was Brazilian. She compared Sech's nostrils to those of a gorilla and called the three monkeys that scream and howl. Sech said she was left in shock and unable to react at first.

The women filmed the episode to gather evidence, blurring the aggressor's face due to German privacy law requirements. They searched for police at the site but found none before the woman left. Sech stated she has already contacted a lawyer to register the occurrence.

The video exceeded 800,000 views on Instagram. Sech said she had faced xenophobia before but never in such a public and explicit manner.
