Chinese envoy urges China-Russia border infrastructure amid sanctions

China's ambassador to Moscow has called for more transport infrastructure along the shared border with Russia to cut logistics costs and address challenges. He specifically suggested building a bridge on the Ussuri River near Raohe and referenced a railway bridge project from Tongjiang to Nizhneleninskoye.

China's top envoy to Russia, Zhang Hanhui, has urged the two countries to develop more transport infrastructure along their shared border to reduce logistics costs and tackle challenges posed by sanctions.

"There are still some boundary rivers where bridges could be built. For instance, on the Ussuri River, a bridge could also be constructed near Raohe," he said, referring to a border county in the eastern part of Heilongjiang province.

One such project mentioned is a railway bridge connecting the countries across the Heilong (Amur) River from Tongjiang in China to Nizhneleninskoye in Russia's Jewish Autonomous Oblast.

This call comes amid Western sanctions on Russia that have stymied transport. Keywords from the report include Zhang Hanhui, China-Russia border, Raohe, Moscow, Russia, Nizhneleninskoye, Heilong River, Jewish Autonomous Oblast, Ussuri River, Beijing, Dongning, China, Tongjiang, Heihe, and Blagoveshchensk.

The ambassador's remarks highlight the importance of neighborly ties and propose more cross-border bridges and corridors to streamline logistics.
