Compromiso Valle mobilizes over $170 billion in five years

The Compromiso Valle initiative, coordinated by ProPacífico, has mobilized more than $170 billion from the private sector since its creation in 2021, impacting over 80,000 people in Valle del Cauca.

Compromiso Valle was born after the April 28, 2021 strike as a platform for joint action between companies and communities. Originally planned for 18 months, the initiative reached its fifth anniversary this year.

María Isabel Ulloa, executive director of ProPacífico, noted that the initiative arose from the recognition that no single actor can transform the territory alone. Companies have contributed resources to municipalities including Cali, Buenaventura, Palmira, Yumbo, Buga, Jamundí, Candelaria and Tuluá.

In employability, 4,542 people accessed formal employment and more than 11,472 received training. In life project transformation, 18,094 people obtained psychosocial support. Rosemberg Quiñónez, from Fundación Mi Oportunidad, highlighted the united work between the private sector and community.

The initiative has inspired similar projects such as Compromiso Magdalena, Compromiso Territorio and Compromiso Bogotá.
