A massive fire at a Coupang warehouse in Incheon was brought under initial control at 8 p.m. Monday, 61 hours after it broke out early Saturday.
The Incheon firefighting headquarters declared the blaze under initial control at 8 p.m. Monday. A total of 812 firefighters and 231 pieces of equipment had been mobilized under a national order issued Saturday.
The complex building structure and flammable materials hampered efforts, but rainfall aided progress on Monday. A total of 178 people took shelter at nearby schools after an evacuation order late Sunday, and one elementary school plus 14 daycare centers closed.
The eight-floor warehouse covers 299,000 square meters. An investigation team will be formed to determine the cause, officials said. No casualties have been reported.
