Daviplata advances toward neobank with cards and revolving credit

Ángela Marcela Ramírez, the new CEO of Daviplata, took leadership at a key moment in its evolution toward a neobank model. The platform, with over 19 million users, focuses on everyday financial services and young segments. Upcoming features include debit and credit cards, plus revolving credit starting in March.

Ángela Marcela Ramírez recently took over as CEO of Daviplata, a digital wallet with over 19 million customers at the end of 2025, after adding 1.5 million from 2024. In an interview with La República, Ramírez described the platform as consolidated, with solid technological infrastructure that now allows focus on everyday financial services rather than just access.

"We receive a consolidated Daviplata. When you have more than 19 million customers, you have a platform built to operate at country scale," Ramírez stated. Expectations are to add a similar number of customers this year, exceeding 20 million, and potentially reaching 22 million by including offerings for youth and minors. The 45% of Colombia's population that is young represents a growth opportunity.

In the shift to a neobank, Daviplata will introduce debit and credit cards. The debit card is already available for digital purchases on Android and iOS, and from March it can be loaded into Android wallets for physical use. A new mobility category will allow recharging TransMilenio or accessing systems like metrocable from the app.

For credit, revolving credit from $50,000 to $5.2 million will be available from March, covering 90% of the Colombian population, with emphasis on supporting small businesses in daily payments. The roadmap includes productive credits for commerce up to $25 million between April and May.

Ramírez highlighted the challenge of building financial well-being in the everyday lives of families and businesses through simple technology.
