Federal Digital Minister Karsten Wildberger confirmed the use of artificial intelligence for speeches and guest articles. The ministry views AI as an ordinary work tool like word processing.
According to an analysis by the weekly newspaper Die Zeit using the software Pangram, several texts under Wildberger's name originated predominantly or entirely from AI. These include a Handelsblatt article from April 2026, a contribution in the Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung from March 2026, and a speech before the Atlantic Council in July 2024.
A spokesperson for the Federal Digital Ministry told Die Zeit that Wildberger uses AI as a work tool. Responsibility always lies with the human who must check, change, and decide. No disclosure was made to the editorial offices.
Thuringia's Minister President Mario Voigt expressed similar views. His state chancellery emphasized that there is no obligation to label AI-supported texts.
