Drake Baldwin delivered the longest home run of the MLB season with a 473-foot blast on Tuesday night. The Atlanta Braves catcher connected on his first plate appearance in nearly a month after returning from the injured list.
Baldwin's leadoff homer against San Francisco Giants starter Adrian Houser at Truist Park traveled into the shrubbery beyond the center-field wall. The drive marked his 14th home run of the year and came hours after he was activated from the 10-day injured list.
The Braves outrighted catcher Austin Wynns to Triple-A Gwinnett to make room on the roster. Baldwin entered the game hitting .303 with 13 homers and a .932 OPS while splitting time between catcher and designated hitter.
Atlanta has lost four of its last five games. Outfielder Ronald Acuña Jr. suffered a hamstring strain during that stretch.
